2014

Once again our small community becomes "Durant" as  author Craig Johnson and many of the cast from the A & E TV show LONGMIRE  spend a fun filled weekend in our area.  Fans have come from near and far to join in the festivities.  The weather is cooperating, sunny and dry.  Lots of pictures and autographs, all sorts of food, and a street dance downtown last night.  The local County Library will host Craig at 2 this afternoon-he will speak for about an hour and then will sign books.  Craig is a generous supporter of our library.  His "talks" are always humorous and enjoyable.

LONGMIRE DAYS IN BUFFALO, WY

AUGUST 17 & 18, 2013

In July of 2012 the town of Buffalo hosted the first LONGMIRE DAY celebration.  Author, Craig Johnson set up a table on the street in front of the OCCIDENTAL HOTEL  and autographed his books.

Buffalo Chamber of Commerce "WILD BUNCH" with their welcoming mock noose/hanging!
 And a smiling Craig Johnson

There were chalk artists adorning the sidewalks with their creations.  A classic view of Sheriff Longmire remained visible long after the event until weather and foot traffic took its toll. Everyone enjoyed the day and they looked ahead to the future.

Fast forward and here it is August 2013.  The Chamber had been busy.  Contacts were made and plans were laid.  Schedules were arranged and posters were printed.

The BUFFALO BULLETIN started off the festivities with their weekly publication dated August 15,2013 with the first section bearing the masthead DURANT COURANT, instead the usual BUFFALO BULLETIN.   There were pictures and bios of the stars of the Longmire TV series. The advertisements  included references to the fictitious Sheriff.

The Clear Creek Brewing company produced ABSAROKA ALE  to join with RANIER BEER as the cold liquid of choice for the weekend.

The historic dude ranch HF BAR at Saddlestring, WY lies northwest of Buffalo at the foot of the Big Horn Mountains.  Friday evening the invited guests and locals met and mingled at this wonderful venue.

A beautiful warm weekend in Buffalo, Wyoming.  After months of planning by the local Chamber of Commerce, crowds of "Longmire" fans gathered at Crazy Woman Square in downtown Buffalo to meet the actors of the A & E series.  Local author, Craig Johnson, the creator of the best selling books featuring Sheriff Longmire was on hand as well.

The local KIWANIS Club set up to serve breakfast to the crowds gathering in Crazy Woman Square in downtown Buffalo early Saturday morning.  The park on the edge of Clear Creek is lovely.  It features wrought iron light posts and decorative fences.  The recently erected public restrooms and small band shell sit in the southeast corner of the square.   The south side of the square features the wonderful mural painted in the summer of 2012 by local area artists.

The local police department escorted the TV stars into the Square.
